Welcome back to my wedding blog. So lets talk catering. We are blessed to have amazing caterers right here on our doorstep in North East Scotland. Whether you long for a formal 3 course traditional wedding breakfast or an informal BBQ you will be spoilt for choice.
Birkenhill Farm Wedding Venue can easily adapt to suit your tastes. Our stunning Woodland Cathedral and incredible sea views can be the perfect location for your wedding if you wish to have a formal 3 course wedding breakfast served at your table.
Let me introduce you to A & J Catering based at Aberchirder, North East Scotland, about 8 miles from here. You may already know the name as they cater at the hugely popular Annual Turriff Agricultural Show amongst many others.
Whatever your culinary requirement, no matter how big or small they can deliver the most amazing, top quality food and service while you sit back and relax. A formal 3 course wedding breakfast served to you and your guests seated in our wedding barn? No problem for A & J Catering. How delicious do these look?
A & J Catering were shortlisted and a finalist in the 8th Scottish Wedding Awards 2020 held in Glasgow in the category Best Caterer nominated by delighted brides and grooms. I’m delighted to say they were awarded Runner Up in the category of Best Caterer with a highly commended recognition. That’s some going when you’re competing with the whole of Scotland! Well done and very well deserved.
Perhaps your dreams for your big day are a little less formal. A relaxed chill out kind of day more your thing? Then we have perfect solutions for you too! We have been so fortunate to be able to welcome some of the finest caterers to our venue.
I’d like to introduce you to the fantastic Moray Hog Roast Company next. Oh boy their hog roast is a real show stopper! The best you’ll ever taste.
As their website says “Go the whole hog with a superb slow-cooked Hog Roast from the Moray Hog Roast Company”. With 30 years Chef experience specializing in offering tasty, on-site Hog Roasts using top-of-the-range professional roasting equipment. They provide a flexible menu to suit all dietary requirements including vegetarian and vegan options. How about a BBQ? Have you heard about the Principled Pig? Perhaps you have already had the pleasure of meeting Andy and Anna at one of the Farmer’s Markets?
The Principled Pig is a family-run street food catering company based in Aberdeenshire specializing in rare-breed pork. They raise their animals themselves on their local Aberdeenshire farm for a true gate-to-plate experience. Oh boy their pork ribs are incredible! Perhaps you have guests who have special dietary requirements such as vegetarian or vegan and you are a bit concerned that they might not offer suitable options. Worry not! They cater for all dietary requirements and their food is second to none!

I sense a pork theme here. Time for a change. How about pizza? Next up is the Pizza Box. Their pizza was absolutely delicious when they provided the catering for one of our weddings last year.
The Pizza Box believe in proper pizza. Music to my ears. They use the best fresh local and home-made ingredients to give you amazing authentic handcrafted pizza with a Scottish twist. All from their own restored vintage horse box which houses all the equipment they need to deliver the finest wood fired pizzas and a unique feel to any wedding, party or event.
Ready for dessert? Don’t know about you but this blog is making me hungry. As I write my blog the sun is streaming into our conservatory and reminds me, time to include ice cream.
Ice cream makes a wonderful dessert for a summer wedding. The finest ice cream probably on the planet is from Portsoy Ice cream. I can definitely see why customers queue down the street to get their wonderful ice cream. So many flavours to choose from and topped off with sprinkles and hot sauce. Oh boy I’m starting to drool now. Not a pretty sight! Here they are set up in our wedding barn ready to serve guests.
By now your guests will be very well fed indeed. But what about a nice cup of coffee? We find lots of guests really fancy a cup of coffee to finish off their meal. My final caterer to share with you today is the Vintage Koffiecabine.
The Vintage Koffiecabine is a new, exciting catering experience serving Dutch pancakes and Artisian Coffee at markets, events, weddings and parties! It was a pleasure to welcome the Vintage Koffiecabine to our venue last year. Their artisan coffee and dutch pancakes went down a real treat. Sometimes you just need a cup of coffee to keep you partying!
Well that’s just a small selection of superb caterers we have in North East Scotland. We are looking forward to hopefully welcoming them back next year as well as all the new to us caterers you have already fallen in love with.
